Heavy rain. Gusting winds. Noise like pebbles hitting the house. Water pouring in around the closed windows as the rain pelted the glass in horizontal streaks. Fear that trees would be ripped from the drought starved ground. Flattened rye. It was a fantastic, awe inspiring storm.
