Basil, Bust & Bonanza

Neglect? Weather? Soil? I suspect a combination of all three factors led to my non-producing seedlings. After transplanting, my sweet basil barely grew. What leaves there were became tough and a bit more yellow-y green than they should be.

But the small potted Genovese basil plant picked up on a whim at the grocery store for something like $3? Bonanza crop. Merely a few weeks after splitting it up from it's root bound nursery pot into three large planters, the taking is large enough for a batch of pesto to dress a pound of pasta. With a bit leftover to freeze, too. I do love fresh basil.
