I hope you're not squeamish. It is not my intent to make you squirm. I found these bugs fascinating and would like to identify them. Any thoughts? They showed up on a westerly window screen as the sun was starting to set, or, rather, that's when we noticed them. Each is about the size of my thumb. We did not see them from the upper side. Out of focus in the first pic, you can just make out that they have sizable, semi-transparent amber wings. Perhaps you can also detect where they appear to be attached by bendy tail-like thingies. Mating? We do have some frighteningly huge horse flies around here, perhaps this is what they look like up close and personal?
