Several topics for future posts are percolating, but none are as of yet fully formed. I'd like to explore routine as a creative tool, talk about working small, and possibly address the shift in topics here in this space (have I even acknowledged the change?). For now, while I settle back in from a week visiting family in Wisconsin, here are a few phone photos from the Certified Wildlife Habitat that is my in-laws' garden (way to go Rose!).
From top to bottom: Baltimore oriole, tree swallow (the male has a brilliantly blue head but he was camera shy), dragonfly, Canada goose and goslings. Also prevalent in the yard were goldfinches, red-winged blackbirds, rose-breasted grosbeaks, brown-headed cowbirds, a red-headed woodpecker, ruby-throated hummingbirds, mourning doves, blue jays, and others I'm forgetting. I'm pretty sure I heard the sandhill cranes obscenely early one morning and we did hear both a loon and an unidentified owl one night by the campfire.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Nikki. I think it was the "Recombobulation Area" just past security at the Milwaukee airport that kept our travels on an even keel. (uh, just joking, but I do love that sign hanging over the benches where everyone puts their shoes back on.)
